Our community involvement goals are to have the most positive impact on the communities which we serve and, have our employees continue to make a difference in their communities through personal, office and firm sponsored activities. Outlined below are some of the activities BSK has been involved with.

BSK Delivers of food to Fresno Community Food Bank!
For the fourth year in a row BSK held a food drive during our annual meeting. In addition to the generous donations of food from our employees, BSK also donated over $200.00 to this local charity. Thanks to all who participated to support this wonderful cause.
American Heart Walk
BSK supports this event annually. As part of celebrating our 50th anniversary, each location challenged one another to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause! Who won? Join our organization and find out!
BSK Employees Support National Parks Service Volunteer-In-Parks Program
BSK encourages and supports our employees’ volunteer efforts. Each year, several BSK employees and family members were at beautiful Yosemite National Park to support the National Parks Service Yosemite Volunteer-In-Park program. This year BSK’s volunteer group participated in an invasive plant removal project at the park. The project’s goal is to reduce the quantity of non-native plant species which have a large impact on native plant communities and their associated wildlife. In previous years, we have worked on ash clean-up and bristle removal. Great way to spend a weekend annually and help a good cause!
American Society of Civil Engineers
BSK encourages our employees to assume leadership roles in industry organizations for both professional and personal development. Recently, Adam from our Bakersfield Branch was voted in as the new President of ASCE’s South San Joaquin Branch.
Neva Popenoe and Sarah Stephenson from our Fresno office were recently installed as the new officers for the ASCE’s, Fresno Branch. Neva is the new Treasurer and Sarah is the new President.
Big Picture Learning Program
BSK employees supported the Big Picture Learning program a national alternative method high school. BSK started working with Big Picture Learning several years ago. This year, BSK entertained five interns with one finishing out his term and is now a part time employee attending the local junior college.
Blood Drive
Each year we hold a blood drive. In June 2017, we had 14 employees donate their blood. In addition, we raised $130.00 from lunch purchases from the employees who could not donate, and this was given to the Central California Blood Center.
Street Cleanup
Employees from BSK’s Sacramento Branch (as well as family and friends), in cooperation with members from Sacramento Regional Transit, donated their time to conduct a street clean-up. The event was part of the American Public Works Association’s Street Clean-Up initiative. Employees and friends braved hot weather to help beautify a blighted area of Sacramento. Efforts such as these demonstrate BSK’s active engagement in the community where we work and live. Nice work team
ASCE Young Members Forum Toys For-Tots Foundation
BSK is proud of our young engineers and their involvement in the local chapter of ASCE/YMF and their commitment to the community. ASCE Young Members Forum sponsored this year’s Toys For Tots foundation and did a great job of making Christmas a whole lot better for many kids.

Our Senior Materials Engineers are active in shaping parts of the Construction Materials Testing & Inspection industry in Northern California. BSK employees are members of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) and are participating in the Construction Quality Assurance Committee.
APWA Adopt-a-Family Holiday Drive
BSK encourages our employees to participate in community outreach efforts. Two of BSK’s semi-young professionals organize an annual Adopt-a-Family program through the Sacramento Chapter of APWA. This program allows BSK employees to contribute to families in need during the holiday season and show support for local communities.
San Joaquin Engineer’s Council Scholarship
